How do I fix drone slides which slip or wobble?

Drone receivers or slides (i.e., the female part) can be made to have parallel sides again using an adjustable hand reamer available from a machine tool company. This device has six parallel blades that can be expanded to remove the irregularities from the receiver. It also leaves a nice finish when done properly. My only caution is to beware that the central screw doesn't mar the bore above the receiver.

Alternatively, a machine shop can put in brass linings. Older MacDougall pipes were made this way as well as (apparently) some Hendersons. One caution here is that the metal lining may cause a tonal change in the pipes.
