What are the special considerations of teaching young students?
The major difficulty that I've found is that youngsters need fellowship and camaraderie with people their own age.
I'm trying to work out a way to schedule a class of only young people to help fill this need. The second problem is that sometimes it's not the student that wants to learn, but the parent who wants them to learn. It may initially be a joint idea, but often the student loses interest. When this happens, there's insufficient time given to practice and it wastes my teaching time as there is insufficient progress.
Bob Dunsire has an excellent page entitled Teaching The Young Piper that addresses many issues on this subject. It also has a table that complements and explains much of what's in my progress and growth of a piper chart.
