Steve MacLeod is an accomplished bagpiper living in Mendon, near Rochester, NY. As a solo piper, Steve has played at about 250 weddings/celebrations and nearly 400 memorial services as well as playing with full symphony orchestras, folk bands and honoring those who've fallen in public service. He brings consummate professionalism to every event.
Steve is an active competitor in grade II (only grade I is higher) in both the Eastern United States and Midwest Pipe Band Associations. He is an active member of competition pipe and drum bands in both Rochester and Buffalo. This helps to maintain a keen performance edge and a large repertoire. He plays all types of pipe music, from the marches and airs to upbeat strathspeys, hornpipes, jigs and reels. He also studies piobaireachd, the original bagpipe music.
Steve plays both the Great Highland Bagpipe and the Scottish smallpipes - a smaller, quiet instrument which may be more suitable for smaller settings. He has a large musical repertoire and is happy to suggest appropriate tunes for any event - yet, your special musical requests are always welcome.
Steve has now retired from his career as a PhD Chemist and is more available to play whenever you need quality piping. If he can't personally pipe for your event, he knows all the better players in the area and will make an effort to find a good piper for you.
